I think that this rule is fair. Why I think that is because if people over fish, of course there won't be enough fish in that area. More people will want to fish there but can't. Fish are also quite important for people too.

I chose selfie #3 here is my short story about it.

"Almost there..." I reassured myself. I was climbing a wall to take a selfie. I was in Venice and I was taking a selfie of myself with the beautiful canals and houses in the background. It would make a great picture to hang on the wall when I got home. "And..." I quickly put on my biggest smile. 'Click' "Done".  As quick as lightning, I sprang of the wall with my phone tight in my hand. I am definitely coming back here, I thought to myself. While smiling, I checked the photo to make sure it was perfect then started the short walk back to my hotel.

Adults can carry 25 kg so if I count in 25's, like this, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, 175, 200, 225, 250, 275, 300, 325, 350, 375, 400, 425, 450 that tells I would need 18 adults.
Children can carry 15 kg so if I count in 15's from where I left off there would need to be 3 children. 465, 480, 495
There is 5 kg left. If I had done it all with adults, you would need 20 adults but I used some children.

SLJ Stranger than fiction

The 2 plants that I picked are the Corpse Flower and the Welwitschia mirabilis. They don't have many things in common but there are lots of differences like the Welwitschia mirabilis has males and females and can live from 500 to 1,500 years old. The Corpse Flower is protected and only blooms every 40 years.

SLJ Weaving a tall tale

I have tried weaving before at school. I was weaving a mat for our classroom with my friend. I really like weaving and it interests me. It interests me because I think it is cool how you can make such cool things out of a plant.

I think I got 5 out of 5 correct which means I know some stuff about fish.

I lived in the south island of New Zealand on the West Coast. My family owned a dairy farm in the beautiful Moonlight which was half an hour away from  Greymouth, one of the towns on the West Coast. Moonlight is a small place with mainly just Dairy farms. New Zealand has lots of native forests which have native and sometimes endangered animals that live in there. The maori name for New Zealand is Aotearoa which means 'Land of the long white cloud'. The North Island had more cities and towns while the South Island had more forests and trees. New Zealand was an amazing and beautiful place to live.

Dear Mum,

You won't believe what the Tundra is like! The scenery is very different to New Zealand's. There are no trees although, like New Zealand, there are lots of hills for miles. There are lots of different flowers and grass' that just spread across the ground. The flowers are beautiful! You would like them I think. We went for lots of walks around the mountains learning about the scenery. I saw a few snowy owls as well.

I am not quite against logging, but not quite with it either so I think I am in the middle. Here are some reasons why I am against it, and with it.

Why I am against it:
1. Birds and a few other bush animals start to live there while the trees grow but of course get pushed out of there home when the trees get logged.
2. The diggers and other vehicles that they use will sometimes make lots of smoke that goes into the air.

Why I am with it:
1. The trees cut down are good for making tables, chairs and so on.
2. It makes good money for NZ.

One of the animals that the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) is helping to save is the Saimaa Ringed Seal. There are only around 360 left.  These Seals give birth in lairs that they dig into snow banks. Without these snowbanks they will give birth to pups on open snow which is in many ways dangerous for the pup. So what the WWF is doing to help these seals is building snowbanks for them. I think that this is a good way to help the Saimaa Ringed Seal.

Pro's about being a DOC Ranger:
1. You get to see endangered animals
2. You get to work with animals
3.  You help the environment

Con's about being a DOC Ranger:
1. You have to work a lot
2. Some other animals eat 1080 and die
3. You have to work in all conditions

I wouldn't mind being a DOC Range because they spend lots of time in the bush and they spend time with animals. I don't mind 1080 although if people find a better way I think I would prefer that.

Description of my beast:
Is a fully gray, (white), Unicorn with feathered wings which he can fly with. Like dragons, has a claw at half way down the wing to also allow him to bend it at half way. With his horn he can render poisoned water and also has healing powers. Can gallop really fast and has a magnificent whinny. He lives with his herd in a magical forest. His markings around his eye and fetlock can tell others what herd he is from. He is the Stallion of the forest herd and their breed is known as the DreamStalkers.

How I worked it out...
My way of working it out is very easy. All I did was times 3 with how many days are in a year which is 365. Then with pencil and paper I worked 365 x 3. Then I added ml on the end. My answer is 1,095ml.(One-thousand and Ninety-five millimeters).

I would love to visit Tāne Mahuta one day. The reasons I would is because this type of tree is only in New Zealand so not all people can see it. Also because I like doing bush walks and tramps.

My hometown is called Moonlight or Atarau. I think Moonlight is amazing because it is full of nature. It is about half an hour from Greymouth and is full of dairy farms. Moonlight is not very busy, has lots of trees, paddocks, friendly people and an awesome river to swim at!

This is why I think Atarau is amazing.

In room 8, the year 6, 7's and 8's were learning about Dragonflies. First we made a description bubble of the dragonfly then we had to use our description words to make a simple sentence. Next we made these simple sentences into paragraphs. Here is the link to my work....

The Strange Case of Origami Yoda

In room 8 the year six's are reading a book called, The Strange Case of Origami Yoda. We read a number of chapters every week and then answer questions about the book. So far it is really good. The Strange Case of Origami Yoda is only first book in it's series and I am looking forward to reading the other books.

Today the year 8's, 7's and some year 6's went on a trip to the Aerodrome in greymouth. We went to learn about the planes, how they work, what they do and a lot more things. We also did a paper aeroplane comp at the end. It was a lot of fun thanks to Sheryl and Peter who took time of their work for us to be able to do this. :)

DO NOT open this box.

WALT: Write or draw a clear and easy to understand series of events.

One day a box turned up to my house. I looked for a label or anything to see if this box had turned up to the wrong house. I had no luck. Instead in big bold red letters across all sides of the cube were, 

'DO NOT OPEN THIS BOX!' I knew I shouldn't have but of course I had to. I suppose I regret it, anyway I open the flaps fearing the worst. I peek slowly inside and scream my head off. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! HELP ME!!" I reopen my eyes and to my surprise there's another box. No snake, no llama that comes up with noodles in a teacup. No nothing. Just another box. I rip open box and there's another box then another box . . . . By this time the rough cardboard box is as big as my palm. Reluctantly expecting another box I undo the box. 

"OMG, your so cute! A blade of grass! . . . . Oh no"

At first this little blade of lush green grass with a face looked cute but as the seconds ticked past he realized that this blade of was growing and the face was transforming to evil mode. As the so called Bob grew his miniature transport box couldn't take it any and popped.

"Mwahaha!" Growled Bob.

"Run!" Cried the helpless Kevin.

By now everyone in the street were out their houses and sprinting down the road with the evil Bob jumping behind. While everyone ran Kevin stopped. Wait a minute he thought, what about the little marshmallow in his pocket? Could that help? 

Everyone else had now stopped and was looking quizzically at Kevin. Even Bob was.

"Want a marshmallow?"

Bob took it and suddenly started to look guilty about everything he had done.

"Yummy . . . ."

"YAY!" Everybody cheered and went back to their afternoon routines while Bob and Kevin ate marshmallows for the rest of the day.

Hey everyone,
Welcome back to my blog! I hope everyone had a great holiday because I know I certainly did! Thank you all for viewing my blog and I can't wait to start posting again and viewing other students blogs.

We are  making sure that we use describing words so the reader does not get bored. I have chosen a story called Exode.

Right now my reading group are reading a book called 'Putting Animals to Work'. It is about animals that work for people and how people look after those animals. In this book it includes 'Training Elephants', which is about good and cruel ways that people train Elephants. 'Battery Hens should be banned' is about people trying to ban battery hens. 'Lights! Camera! Bark!' is about dogs in movies and how they are trained to be in movies. The last one is 'Apes need Rights' which is about people doing medical research on apes and how people want to legally protect them. Hayden and I picked to do a
poster about banning battery hens and why. This is it . . . .
