SLJ Going, going ... gone

Week: 1
Day: 5
Activity: 3

I lived in the south island of New Zealand on the West Coast. My family owned a dairy farm in the beautiful Moonlight which was half an hour away from  Greymouth, one of the towns on the West Coast. Moonlight is a small place with mainly just Dairy farms. New Zealand has lots of native forests which have native and sometimes endangered animals that live in there. The maori name for New Zealand is Aotearoa which means 'Land of the long white cloud'. The North Island had more cities and towns while the South Island had more forests and trees. New Zealand was an amazing and beautiful place to live.

  1. Kia ora Jess,

My name is Hazel and I am part of the Summer Learning Journey (SLJ) team. I’ll be helping Allie and the team out in Toki Pounamu over the Christmas holidays.

I really enjoyed reading your description of New Zealand. You have painted a beautiful picture of Moonlight. What is your favourite thing to do in Moonlight? Where would you move to if you had to leave New Zealand because it was sinking?

Keep up the great work, and I look forward to seeing more of your posts soon.

    Hazel :)

  2. Hello Hazel
My favourite thing to do in Moonlight would be helping on the farm and swimming with friends down at the river. What are your favourite things to do where you live? I don't really know where I would go if New Zealand sank.

    Blog ya later:)

    1. Hello Jess,

I also enjoy going swimming with friends, but there aren't many rivers close to where I live in Auckland, so we have to drive to the beach if we want to swim. My grandparents used to own a farm in Whangarei, and I enjoyed helping them out up there.

I hope that you are enjoying your summer holidays so far, and had a great new year.

      Hazel :)
